Program Ideas include the following:

  • Outdoor Trips
    • Incorporate various levels of involvement from participants including planning, leading, and processing the trip
    • Camping, Kayak/Rafting, Climbing, Spelunking, Biking, Hiking, etc.
  • How to have a Balanced Diet for Maximum Performance
  • Finding Balance in Your Life
    • Healthy ways to relieve stress
    • Exploring your personality/communication style and how you relate to others
    • Campfire Circle / Muir Moment reflective activities
  • Survival Skills
    • Water safety, fire safety, first aid, crisis management, etc.
  • Book Club
    • Literature related to Outdoor Adventure or upcoming trips will be shared in discussion groups
  • Music
    • Music as a method to celebrate/worship/respect nature
    • Mountain music - history and importance to culture
    • Ways to bring music to trips
  • Community Service
  • Sustainability
    • Sustainability on the trail is & applying it to everyday life
    • Leave No Trace Theory
  • Environmental Issues
    • Work with local organizations to maintain land preserves
    • Work with local organizations (boy/girl clubs) to take trips teaching skills OALC participants have learned throughout the year
