RESIDENTIAL LIFE GUIDE
circles mid-year inspection

Residential Life staff will conduct apartment condition inspections in every apartment between the fall and spring semesters. A pair of professional staff members will inspect the apartment and document its condition. The mid year condition will be compared with the Apartment Condition Report which the residents completed upon arrival. Repairs will be completed for all conditions deemed worse than what is considered normal wear and tear.

The Mid Year inspection is designed to help maintain the apartments in good condition for all current and future residents. The inspection is also designed to educate residents about their behaviors while damages are still minor in nature.

Repairs will typically be completed during the winter break period in order to restore the apartment to good condition. Certain repairs, such as carpet repairs, cannot be completed during the winter break and will be delayed until the summer break. Students are only billed the actual cost of the repair. As a result, there is no motivation to over bill students. There is no financial benefit to the college in damage billing.

Please note: a student may contact their RD at any point during the academic year to review their RCR/ACR.

By failure complete and submit an ACR/RCR, a student has waived his or her right to appeal any damage charges assessed by their Residence Director. The room, suite, or apartment will be considered in "like new" condition for damage billing purposes.

Common area damage affects everyone in the community resulting in increased housing costs.

All correspondence to contest damage charges should be directed to the appropriate Residence Director at:

2001 East Tower
953 Danby Road
Ithaca, NY 14850
(607) 274-1589 (Fax)
