RESIDENTIAL LIFE GUIDE
early arrival

Students required to be on campus prior to Sunday, August 24, 2008 because of on-campus employment, athletic team practice, academic requirement, or college-sponsored activity are eligible to arrive early. The earliest date and time that can be requested for early arrival is 9:00 a.m. on Sunday, August 17, 2008¹. As the President's office has requested we limit the number of students arriving early, it is strongly suggested that student job training, preliminary meetings and the like be scheduled no earlier than absolutely necessary (e.g., the day prior to the beginning of employment for a one-day, student training session).

Only the student's employment supervisor, athletic coach, dean's office, academic advisor, or club coordinator may submit requests for the reasons listed above. Students whose special circumstance are beyond the scope of those covered may submit an individual request.

All Early Arrival requests should be E-mailed to breakhousing@ithaca.edu. Each must include the student's name, ID number, the date requested for arrival, and the reason the student is required to be on campus as of that date (requests for multiple students should be attached as Microsoft Excel documents).

Only those students whose Early Arrival requests are approved by the Office of Residential Life may do so. Any student without this written authorization who is found in a residence hall or who makes an attempt to check-in early is subject to a $100.00 unauthorized presence fee.²

¹ Circle Apartment check-in begins on Friday, August 8, 2008. Requests to arrive prior to this date will be denied.
² See Recess Housing.

All residence halls except for the Circle and Garden Apartments, and Terrace 03, are closed during Thanksgiving and Spring break. All residence halls except for the Circle and Garden Apartments are closed during Winter break. If you live in a closed residence hall, you must vacate your room for the duration of these breaks!

To assist all residents with travel planning, the residence hall openings and closings schedule for this academic year can be found by visiting our calendar.

All rooms, apartments, and suites will be inspected by staff during breaks to ensure compliance with closing procedures, health and safety regulations, and Residential Life rules and regulations. Violators are subject to judicial action.
