RESIDENTIAL LIFE GUIDE
making the change

During Fall and Spring semesters, if a student receives a direct assignment, accepts a reassignment or a Wait List offer, or is seeking approvals for a One-to-one room change, the following steps must be taken:

  1. Room Change Form: A student reassigned by ...
    • Wait List or by Vacancy form will be contacted by the Office of Residential Life in order to pick up his or her Room Change form.
    • One-to-One Room change will be provided with a Room Change form by the Residence Director once he or she determines that all students involved in the change are agreeable (all roommate(s), suitemate(s), and apartmentmate(s) must sign the Room Change form), and that the Residence Director of any other hall involved in the change has approved.
  2. Keys: The student will be directed to take the Room Change form to the appropriate Area or Satellite office in order to sign-out the room and mail keys for the new assignment.
  3. See your new RA: He or she will check you into the new room, apartment, or suite. Both you and your new RA will sign a new room/apartment condition report form.
  4. See your current RA: He or she will check you out of your room, apartment, or suite and inspect the room, apartment, or suite for damages. Both you and your RA must sign the room/apartment condition report form.

SPECIAL NOTICE: The Office of Residential Life reserves the right to suspend these processes as demand for campus housing dictates.

All room changes and sublets made without prior approval of the Office of Residential Life are subject to judicial action. Similarly, moving into a vacancy without permission from the Office of Residential Life can result in disciplinary action. It is vitally important for your safety and well-being that Ithaca College's records accurately reflect where you reside on campus.

Students who move (or are directly reassigned) from a traditional room to a Circle Apartment, Garden Apartment, or Quad Apartment will need to contact the Bursar's office if they intend to continue their current meal plan. Students who move (or are directly reassigned) from a Circle Apartment, Garden Apartment, or Quad Apartment to a traditional room are automatically assigned to a standard meal plan which will be billed to their student account.

Moving from one bedroom to another within an Circle apartment without approval of the Office of Residential Life is considered an unauthorized room change and subject to judicial action.
