RESIDENTIAL LIFE GUIDE
one-to-one swaps

The One-to-One Room Change option allows a current, on-campus student to swap room assignments with another current, on-campus student according to the following guidelines:

  • All students affected by the change (all roommate(s), suitemate(s), and apartmentmate(s) of the students making the swap) must agree to the proposed switch.
  • The change must involve at least two individuals who are agreeable to exchange room assignments.
  • The change must take place in consultation with a Residence Director. Students interested in exercising this option should make an appointment with their Residence Director as soon as is possible.

NOTE: A One-to-one room change will never create an empty space in a room, suite, or apartment.

SPECIAL NOTICE: The Office of Residential Life reserves the right to suspend these processes as demand for campus housing dictates.

All room changes and sublets made without prior approval of the Office of Residential Life are subject to judicial action. Similarly, moving into a vacancy without permission from the Office of Residential Life can result in disciplinary action. It is vitally important for your safety and well-being that Ithaca College's records accurately reflect where you reside on campus.

Students who move (or are directly reassigned) from a traditional room to a Circle Apartment, Garden Apartment, or Quad Apartment will need to contact the Bursar's office if they intend to continue their current meal plan. Students who move (or are directly reassigned) from a Circle Apartment, Garden Apartment, or Quad Apartment to a traditional room are automatically assigned to a standard meal plan which will be billed to their student account.

Moving from one bedroom to another within an Circle apartment without approval of the Office of Residential Life is considered an unauthorized room change and subject to judicial action.
