Welcome to Quartier français, the French language and culture learning community! Quartier français is a new offering for the 2009-2010 academic year. The community is located on the first floor of Terrace 11, and shares the floor with the Stockwerk Deutsch Learning Community. For 2010-11, Quartier français will move to the second floor of Terrace 07, along with Stockwerk Deutsch.

Program Goals

  • Lead students to appreciable improvement and greater competence in the four basic language skills (listening, speaking, reading, and writing).
  • Assist students in contextualizing the significance of French language and culture in the larger world.
  • Allow students to engage directly with the disparate cultures that make up the French-speaking work, leading to a deeper understanding of these cultures.

Program Requirements

  • Sign the specialty housing agreement.
  • Attend at least 3 educational programs planned or approved by the Quartier français RA.
  • Participate in language immersion hours.

  • Carrefour francophone: French conversation groups
  • ICinéma: French language film series
  • Fêtes: cultural celebrations
  • À Table: cooking nights
