Is Vecinos the right neighborhood for you? If you can answer "yes" to the following questions, you are equipped to enter the energetic and connected Vecinos Residential Learning Community! Are you willing to …
  • Share your enthusiasm for the Spanish language and Spanish speaking cultures?
  • Be part of a thriving community that actively participates in culturally relevant programs?
  • Share your feedback in writing (in English, Spanish, or a combination of the two) via the Vecinos facebook page: Somos Vecinos?
  • Immerse yourself in the Spanish language by participating in one of the following options? All levels of Spanish speakers are always welcome!

    1. La Mesa española once a week in the Terrace Dining Hall, where your Resident Assistant will lead a conversation in Spanish over dinner. Mesa española is a casual forum where you will practice your Spanish, discuss emerging cultural issues, and meet new people.
    2. Grupos de conversacion! A Spanish Teaching Assistant (TA) will lead a structured session especially for Vecinos residents, right in your residence hall! Once a week your TA will present a brief lesson that will get you talking!
    3. Be a leader in your floor community by volunteering as a host for Las horas españolas! For two hours very evening, you will encourage your neighbors to speak only in Spanish. If you catch people using the "phrase of the week" you will award tokens for members of Vecinos to use to enter a raffle at the end of each month!

If these requirements sound like something you're willing to include in your college experience, then apply to Vecinos, and join us next semester!
