The lowdown on classes, internships, and my adventures in the ICLA Program by Colleen Wormsley '13

After having a little over a week to adjust to a new city, it's kind of nice to be in a routine again. Last week I began my two internships and two classes. So far it seems like it will be a great semester! Here's the breakdown of how I'll be spending each week for the next few months:
Mondays- On Monday mornings I take the bus to Hollywood to my internship at GOOD. GOOD is a collaboration of individuals, businesses, and non-profits pushing the world forward. GOOD publishes a print magazine, online content, and hosts events for people who "give a damn." At GOOD, I'm a social media intern and I help create content and discussions for various parts of the website.
Currently, I am working on creating projects for #30DaysofGood, an online challenge that encourages people to live better offline. This month's theme is Financial Fitness. To help others become more aware of their spending, I created a project that challenges people track their weekly spending and create an infographic. The project can be found here, and it would be awesome to see if any Parkies are up to the challenge!
Tuesdays- On Tuesdays I head to the Pendleton Center for my Writing for Public Relations class from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Government in Media class from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Both of my classes are really interesting and they're taught by professors who have been in the entertainment industry for a long time. It's also nice to have one day a week to run errands, catch up on homework, and go for a run in the beautiful sunshine between classes!
Wednesdays- Wednesdays I'm back at GOOD. I love that every time I come back from my internship, my roommates ask, "How was your day?" and I respond, "It was GOOD."
Thursdays- On Thursdays I head over to West Hollywood for my internship at a small public relations agency called Sunshine Sachs. They work with a variety of different clients and I help create media lists and clips.
Fridays- Fridays I'm back at Sunshine Sachs.
Saturdays- Saturday is when we get to do the fun stuff! The lovely RAs and the Programs and Services Coordinator Jon, plan awesome trips for everyone in the ICLA program. This weekend we're going to Universal Studios and next weekend we're heading to Santa Monica to go to the beach!
Sundays- After a busy week, it's nice to have a low key Sunday to sleep in, work on homework, catch up on TV, or explore LA a little more. Last Sunday, a few of us from the program went to the Getty Museum. In addition to some amazing artwork, it definitely has the best views of the Los Angeles.
I love how my schedule is so different from a typical college semester. I get to do something a little different each day of the week which definitely keeps it interesting!
