I can’t believe I’ve already been in Los Angeles for a few days. So much has happened already, but I’ll start from the beginning of my journey.
As I stepped off the plane at Bob Hope Airport in Burbank on Saturday, I looked around and thought, “I’m definitely not in Ithaca anymore.” From the abundance of palm trees and mountains, to the beautiful, sunny 70-degree weather, it’s definitely quite a change from South Hill… but I’m not complaining.
After arriving at the airport, a group of Ithaca College students and I went to check in at the Oakwood Apartments, where we’ll be staying for the next 5 months. The rooms are huge and there’s a pool right next to our building, definitely an upgrade from the typical residential experience.
After a long day of traveling, we were all hungry and ventured to In-N-Out Burger, California’s favorite burger chain. It was a pretty long walk, but my cheeseburger and strawberry milkshake were definitely worth it.
The next day, a few of us decided to explore LA a little bit and took the bus to Hollywood. (It is possible to get around on the bus. I promise!) In typical tourist style, we visited the Hollywood Walk of Fame where we had to pay tribute to former Ithaca College professor Rod Serling’s star.
We also walked around The Kodak Theater, home of the Academy Awards and the American Idol finale as well as Grauman’s Chinese Theater where we let our inner nerds out and took pictures with the cast of Star Wars’ footprints.
