Vadim Isakov worked for the International Committee of the Red Cross in Central Asia since January 2004. As a regional press officer, Vadim's professional duties included creating online content for the regional section of ICRC Web site (www.icrc.org),  developing and maintaining contacts with local and international media representatives in the region, designing and conducting projects promoting the ICRC's image and activities, and analyzing and reporting on the political, social and economic situations in the region for the ICRC headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland.

In 2006, Vadim Isakov has been recognized as one of the top ten bloggers in Uzbekistan and named as "the most exciting discovery" of Uzbek blogsphere. He has served as an online editor of Uzreport.com, the first information portal in the country.

In 2003, Vadim also worked as a Central Asian reporter for Agence France-Presse, the Europe's oldest news agency. During this time, he covered major political and social developments in Uzbekistan, including a plane crush that killed a UN official, the bombings of US and Israeli embassies and civil unrests in several Uzbek cities.

Previously, Vadim has been an emplpyee of the United States Agency for International Development's project in Central Asia where he worked as an evaluation and monitoring specialist. In addition to evaluating the agency's projects in Uzbekistan and providing content for the USAID Web site, Vadim developed and organized conferences to educate the public about media and legislative issues in the country.

Aside from teaching, Vadim regularly writes for New Eurasia, an online publication covering Central Asian region.

Vadim earned a Master of Arts degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill's School of Journalism and Mass Communication, which he attended from 2000 to 2002. 

He also worked for The Herald Sun and The Daily Tar Heel newspapers in North Carolina.
