Faculty Instructors

Dr. Matt Mogekwu is Associate Professor and Chair of the Journalism Department in the Park School of Communications.
He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater; his Master’s degree in Communications from Michigan State University; and his Ph.D. from the Ernie Pyle School of Journalism at Indiana University, Bloomington, Indiana. Prior to coming to Ithaca, Matt taught at Bowie State University in Maryland. Before then, he had been a professor of Communications at the University of the Northwest in South Africa as well as Dean of the Faculty of Human and Social Sciences at the same university.  He has also been faculty member and administrator at universities in Nigeria, Sierra Leone and Swaziland.  He is a member of many Journalism/mass communication associations.

Vadim Isakov is Scholar-in-Residence at the Roy H. Park School of Communications. Vadim worked for the International Committee of the Red Cross in Central Asia since January 2004 as a regional press officer. In 2006, Vadim Isakov has been recognized as one of the top ten bloggers in Uzbekistan and named as "the most exciting discovery" of Uzbek blogsphere. In 2003, Vadim also worked as a Central Asian reporter for Agence France-Presse During this time, he covered major political and social developments in Uzbekistan, including a plane crush that killed a UN official, the bombings of US and Israeli embassies and civil unrests in several Uzbek cities. Vadim’s experience also includes working for the United States Agency for International Development's project in Central Asia, “The Herald Sun” and “The Daily Tar Heel” newspapers in North Carolina.
