Journalism Internships: Deadline Information

Deadlines to apply for some of the more competitive print journalism summer internships are coming up in November. 

Here are some avenues to access opportunities:

1) Our communications internship website at www.ithaca.edu/rhp/internships contains a pretty cool searchable database. Check the blog there, too.

2) The American Society of Newspaper Editors at www.asne.org/internships lists member papers geographically, with deadlines and contact names.

3) A publication from Associated Collegiate Press has useful guidelines (like how to present clips) and an additional list of newspapers. If you contact Eloise Greene, the Park School internship coordinator, at eloise@ithaca.edu she can e-mail more information.

4) Meet with Eloise Greene to discuss your interests and review your resume.A few companies have November deadlines. They are:

    •        Associated Press
    •        Dow Jones Newspaper Fund
    •        U.S. Department of State
    •        Scripps Howard Foundation Newswire (free housing)
    •        New Jersey Newspaper Foundation (for residents)
    •        Maryland, Delaware, D.C. Press Foundation (for residents)
    •        Plus: The New York Times, Washington Post, Orlando Sentinel, Newsweek, Newsday, Wall Street Journal, Philadelphia Inquirer, and Boston Globe.
