IMC students intern at top advertising and PR agencies, like Ogilvy & Mather, Young & Rubican, and Ruder Finn.

IMC major Peter Pasco, ’09, interned at Saatchi & Saatchi Healthcare Advertising (SSHA), the professional division of Saatchi & Saatchi Healthcare Communications Group (SSHCG), at its headquarters in New York City this summer for three months. Peter was placed at SSHA through the American Association of Advertising Agencies’ Multicultural Advertising Intern Program (MAIP). SSHA provides integrated and holistic marketing solutions to its healthcare clients with leading brands such as Nexium, Crestor, Ambien CR, Seroquel, Plavix, and Elaxotin. The company recently received a Medical Marketing & Media (MM&M) Award for Best Professional Sales Aid. Its sister companies are Saatchi & Saatchi Consumer Health+Wellness and Saatchi & Saatchi Healthcare Innovations, both of which are part of SSHCG, a Publicis Healthcare Communication Group company.
Throughout his internship, Peter’s work involved hands-on experience with project management within a healthcare advertising agency. Specifically, he was responsible for routing projects, learning how to use the SSHA’s internal client management software to enter project estimates, archiving completed projects, and participating in a summer-long intern project. Peter also shadowed co-workers in a couple departments, including account management and strategic planning.
He also participated in a summer-long project with the other MAIP interns in his company developing a campaign to recruit recent college graduates and undergraduate students. The project was the cornerstone of his internship experience, which allowed Peter and the other interns to apply their new skills and knowledge towards a fully planned campaign. At the end of the summer, Peter and the interns presented their project to their supervisor, mentors, and top-level executives, including the company’s CEO, Sam Welch.
