Nicolas Barajas '08 is one of 20 students nationwide attending the New York Times Student Journalism Institute, held January 2 to 13, 2008, at the University of Arizona in Tucson. The Institute is an annual program in partnership with the National Association of Hispanic Journalists (NAHJ), and is offered to aspiring reporters, editors, photographers and designers who are student members of NAHJ.
Barajas was selected in a competitive process, based on his essay, portfolio, and previous journalism experience, which includes his current position as the online editor for the Ithacan. The Institute offers him the opportunity to work with professional journalists from the New York Times, the Boston Globe, and the Times Company’s Regional Media Group while maintaining the Institute website and producing a newspaper containing the best work generated during the program.
Barajas is a communication management and design major.
