Public Relations Society of America Chair-Elect and IC Alum Shares Wisdom With IMC Students
The chair-elect of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), Michael Cherenson, who is a 1990 Ithaca College graduate, shared his knowledge of the public relations industry and his wisdom on reputation management with IMC students during his recent visit to campus. He met with members of IC’s student chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America, and also presented a lecture on trust and reputation issues in the public relations field to students in two public relations classes in the Roy H. Park School of Communications’ Integrated Marketing Communications program
With more than 32,000 members and 109 chapters nationwide, the PRSA is the world’s largest organization for public relations professionals. Its student-based organization, Public Relations Student Society of America, cultivates a favorable and mutually advantageous relationship between students and professional public relations practitioners.
A 17-year industry veteran and the author of three studies on the impact of reputation, Cherenson was named chair-elect of the PRSA in 2007; he will assume the role of chair and CEO in 2009. He previously served as secretary and was a three-year member of the board of directors. Cherenson is executive vice president of public relations at Success Communications Group, a full-service public relations, advertising and recruitment/product marketing agency catering to a diverse clientele. He serves as the firm’s senior public relations counselor and strategist, with expertise in all disciplines of public relations, including corporate, marketing, internal and crisis communication, government relations, event management and interactive public relations.
