CMD Seniors Raise 3K for Breast Cancer Awareness
As their final project in the communication management and design capstone course, Management of Strategic Communication, four CMD seniors planned and executed a fundraiser which collected $3,369 for a breast cancer awareness campaign.
Calling themselves Pink Lady Promotions, Leanne Gabinelli, Kellie Hoverter, Amanda Bussett, and Vanessa Odenbach worked with Leigh Hurst ‘92, founder of the Feel Your Boobies Foundation. The Ithaca Boobies BashSM was entitled, “Pink and White Party,” and was held the evening of April 5th at the Second Floor Bar on the Ithaca Commons.
Attendees were encouraged to dress in pink and white, and the event included door prizes, free food, and a DJ for entertainment, along with the sale of Feel Your Boobies gear. Earlier in the day, the Boobies BusSM was parked on the Ithaca Commons, attracting attention to the campaign.
According to the Feel Your Boobies web site, "The Boobies Bus is the newest addition to the 2008 Boobies Awareness Campaign and we plan to spread our message with it wherever we go. It’s a custom wrapped Toyota Scion and, well, it’s pretty tricked out."
"It was amazing!” said Bussett. “I’m so glad we chose to organize and manage an event for our senior project. Leigh Hurst was just incredible to work with, too."
