Assistant Professor Ari Kissiloff’s website, “From Acadia To Zion: Visiting ALL of America’s National Parks, Monuments, Historic Sites, and so on” was covered as an Accent feature in the September 24, 2009 edition of The Ithacan.

The article, by IC student Kelsey Fowler, explores the website that Kissiloff created while researching database driven content management systems for the Web Sites That Work course, and which highlights his attempt to visit all 391 sites administered by the National Parks Service.

Prof. Kissiloff was particularly influenced by the recent “National Parks: America’s Best Idea” documentary by Ken Burns and aired on PBS.  “Ken Burns has always been someone I deeply respect”, Kissiloff said in the article. “He is an articulate and artistic documentarian who delves into complex issues and somehow makes sense out of them, all while still being entertaining”.

The website contains descriptions and photos of visits to the National Parks, and allows for the public to add their own thoughts. Kissiloff has currently visited 152 of 391 National Park Service sites, including 44 of 59 American National Parks.
