IC's PRSSA Chapter Hosts "PR Works"

Ithaca College's Public Relations Student Society of America Chapter hosted its annual networking night, "PR Works," at La Tourelle Resort and Spa in Ithaca on November 16. Guest speaker David Thalberg, Class of 1987, traveled from New York City to share his insight on job hunting in public relations and tips on surviving in New York City as a newcomer. David has over 20 years of experience as a public relations professional in Manhattan, specializing in brand development, marketing communications, book and author publications, media production, and traditional and online media relations campaigns. Currently, he serves as executive director of Krupp Kommunications, a Manhattan-based public relations agency with such leading clients as People Magazine, McGraw-Hill Publishers, and Sony Pictures television. Previously, he held senior management positions at Susan Magrino and Ruder Finn.

President of IC's PRSSA Chapter Elise Stevens said, "The event was a great success. David provided quality insight into the PR profession and gave us a glimpse of his everyday life as a PR executive in New York City. Through his witty and interesting stories, we received advice that only an experienced professional could provide. David was truly a delight!"

Claudia Wheatley, Director of Press Relations for Cornell University, and Yvette Sterbenk, Communications Manger from the Corning Museum of Glass, were also in attendance. They provided one-on-one advice to students about careers and internships in PR.
