Andrée (Soscia) Mastrosimone ’88 is the president, founder, and owner of Calm & Sense Communications, Ltd in Rochester, NY.  This year she celebrates the 15th year of her corporate and marketing communications firm—and what a celebration it is turning out to be!

Calm & Sense Communications won Best of Show in the Public Relations Society of America’s (PRSA) 2007 PRism Awards held June 7, 2007 at the Lodge at Woodcliff.  The agency received the top not-for-profit award for its work on the Rochester Institute of Technology “Fit for Retirement” Employee Savings Promotional Program. The agency also won two other PRism awards, in the not-for-profit newsletter, and internal communications program categories. Additionally, Calm & Sense was recognized along with Unity Health System with a PRism in the not-for-profit special event/observance category for its work on Unity’s Women’s Health Event Series.

“As a small firm, this recognition is particularly meaningful as it validates that high-caliber work and results are not driven by company size, but rather quality of team members,” said Ms. Mastrosimone.

In addition to the PRism Awards, Calm & Sense Communications won Gold recognition in the 24th Annual Healthcare Advertising Awards sponsored by Healthcare Marketing Report. The Healthcare Advertising Awards are the oldest, largest, and most prestigious advertising awards competition.  This year a record number of over 4,300 entries were submitted from every state in the country and multiple foreign countries.

Ms. Mastrosimone graduated with a B.S. in Corporate Communications, the forerunner of the current Communication Management and Design program.  She has nurtured the growth of Calm and Sense Communications from a one-person, home office operation in 1992, to a full-service firm located in the historic Cascade District in downtown Rochester.  Clients include:  Bausch & Lomb, Constellation Brands, Inc., Eastman Kodak Company, Rochester Institute of Technology, and Wegmans.  Since 2000, Calm & Sense has been recognized with over 25 local, national and international industry awards for its work.

She adds, "I'm actually working with many IC grads...[that] are clients of mine.  It's neat to see the continuation of great talent coming out of Ithaca!"
