Entertainment Tonight and The Insider

Abigail Baron '12, interned at Entertainment Tonight and The Insider in Studio City, CA.  She started working as a Production Assistant, doing tasks such as transcribing interviews, logging footage, filing tapes, and helping with miscellaneous tasks that needed to be done around the office.  Three weeks after starting, she was transferred to the online department.  There, she compiles research for stories, pre-writes obituaries for future use, and gathers images for the writers to use in their galleries.  Most recently she was given the opportunity to work at a PA for The Academy Awards. It was the most amazing experience for anyone wanting to work in entertainment news.  For the days leading up to the awards, she assisted in the taping of promos for the weekend's broadcast, setting up the talent's dressing rooms, and running errands for the producers and directors.  On the day of the show, she helped run tapes from the carpet to the truck and assisted with filming the red-carpet arrivals and post-show recaps.  It was a great hands-on experience that allowed her to see what goes on behind the scenes of an event that most people only ever see on TV.  While she was having the time of her life at work, she hoped to learn more about the production process of the daily shows, and possibly work with a director to learn what her dream after graduation is to work at a company, like Entertainment Tonight, gaining as much knowledge and experience as she can in order to become a successful on-air reporter.
