For the past several baseball seasons, IMC assistant professor William Ressler has been studying culture and strategic communication in minor league baseball.

He has interviewed scores of culturally diverse minor league baseball players, including African American, Jewish, and foreign-born players, in particular players from Spanish-speaking countries.

He has published his original research in academic journals. For example, “Baseball players, organizational communication, and cultural diversity: Organizational Citizenship Behavior in minor league clubhouses,” will be published this year in NINE: A Journal of Baseball History & Culture. In addition, he has written book reviews for scholarly publications. These include two book reviews published in the Fall 2012 issue of Black Ball, a peer-reviewed journal with an editorial board of leading scholars that promotes study of the Negro Leagues through original and authoritative research.
