AOL web/journalism summer in NYC

WalletPop.com, which is AOL's personal finance site, is looking for a summer intern in their New York office to do writing, web production and other office tasks. It is a paid position ($12 per hour). Send a resume (and clips) to beth.gladstone@corp.aol.com. Below is the official job description:
 
 AOL Money & Finance includes the core Money & Finance channel (serving billions of stock quotes, tens of millions of stock portfolios, sections devoted to every major personal finance topic, and daily features for AOL's home page and Welcome Screen); AOL Small Business and its Welcome Screen; AOL Business News, run out of the AOL Newsrooms in New York and Dulles; BloggingStocks, the leading financial blog on the Web, also run out of New York and WalletPop, a new personal finance blog.

 

The summer intern program has college students handling all types of editorial and programming duties, from launching new pages to deciding what goes on the front page, to working with our blogs and our newsroom operation, including attending key meetings and covering breaking news and creating pages that got featured on AOL’s Welcome Screen. Knowledge of SEO (search engine optimization) is perferable. By the end of the summer they have an understanding of Internet media.

What they look for most in a candidate is experience in Web production. The next thing is experience in writing/editing/ communications/journalism. Interest in finance is desireable. The position is 12 weeks for the summer intern to work, and candidates must be college students to apply.
