|David Allen ’13|
|TeenNick / NickToons Digital Intern, New York City, NY|
David Allen, a Television-Radio major with a video concentration, spent the 2012 summer working as a digital intern with TeenNick in New York City. TeenNick, owned by Viacom's MTV Television, features a programming mix suitable for children, preteens, teens and young adults.
David’s for-credit internship duties included working on the websites for NickToons and TeenNick. He created, and edited videos, clips and photos for the sites. David was also responsible for the development and maintenance of Excel documents with up-to-date programming information. He attended daily departmental meetings at which content and programming were discussed. “Also I never once had to get coffee or lunch for anyone but myself,” he adds.
David achieved his goals while interning at this company and would recommend it to future students. “While post production work is not my main choice I learned a lot about an organization and channels I have loved for years,” he says. He also felt like a member of the team and would definitely try to work with Viacom in the future again. “The people were fun and I actually got to do real work” he says.
David had a great experience as an intern for NickToons and TeenNick. He not only learned how to work industry software, but also saw how an office setting works. He had the opportunity to meet friendly people who were always willing to chat and assist him. "I also explored work in post production and found out it is not my first choice later in life," he also figured out.
