|Rebecca Norton ’15|
|Kiss 108 Radio – Clear Channel Boston, Medford, MA|
Rebecca Norton, a Television-Radio major with a concentration in media production in the Roy H. Park School of Communications, interned Summer 2012 with Kiss 108 Radio Boston.
Rebecca assisted DJ Romeo’s show from music and artist research to observing the on-air DJ during the course of the show. “It was so much fun to see DJ Romeo in action and work on commercials with the production director 'Spanky',” she says. Rebecca also learned how to work their radio system, NexGen. She answered fan calls for song requests and contests, adding fun pictures to the Facebook page to get the radio’s listeners involved and editing a commercial for a popular artist. On Wednesdays she usually worked with Justin Weiner, the production director and intern organizer, in the production studios, observing him making spots, promos and artist ID’s. I
Rebecca says she fully achieved her goals and truly enjoyed every minute of studio and production time as an intern with Kiss 108 Radio. “Get ready to meet really fun people, who know what they are doing. Get involved with other things than what you had signed up for. I asked to do more production things, along with on air talent,” she advises future students. She says people appreciated the enthusiasm she had towards wanting to learn, which helped her in making connections. “With the help of my advisor at Kiss108 and the involvement I had at the station, I figured out that this is the industry I want to be in,” she says.
