Park School Family Weekend Events Scheduled

Please join us for the following Park School Family Weekend activities.


Friday, October 25

5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.
Drew: The Man Behind The Poster
Park School Film Feature Presentation
Park Hall Auditorium

Introduction by Adam Peruta, Assistant Professor of Strategic Communication, and Alison Shields, Assistant Professor of Marketing and Law.  The faculty will frame the film by discussing the role of brand design and brand nostalgia.

Drew: The Man Behind the Poster is a feature-length documentary highlighting the career of artist and illustrator Drew Struzan, whose most popular works include the Indiana Jones, Back to the Future and Star Wars trilogies.  Telling the tale through exclusive interviews with George Lucas, Steven Spielberg, Harrison Ford, Michael J. Fox, Thomas Jane, Sam Witwer, Frank Darabont, Guillermo del Toro, and many other artists, critics and filmmakers, this film spans the journey of Drew's early life and career in album cover art, through his success as one of the most recognizable and influential movie poster artists of all time, to his most recent 'post retirement' life and works of fine art.

Share coffee with the Park School family including Dean Diane Gayeski, faculty, and staff.  Students are encouraged to show their families where they take courses and work on co-curricular activities, and to introduce their professors.

Parents of students who are majors or minors in the Roy H. Park School of Communications are invited to a presentation about Ithaca College's James B. Pendleton Center in Los Angeles, the ICNYC Program, the IC Program in London, and highlights from some of our international internship and travel opportunities.

2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Documentary Screening: Sole Survivor
Park Hall Auditorium
Co-Producer Alexis Jaworski will introduce her documentary, Sole Survivor, a film that tells the complex story of four people who became sole survivors of commercial airline disasters. Alexis Jaworski is the sister of Erik Jaworksi, a junior Documentary Studies and Production major.

4:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.
Need Advice?  Life After Ithaca - Young Alumni Panel
Park Hall Auditorium
Hear from a panel of young alumni as they discuss their budding careers and how the things they participated in at Ithaca College helped them along their way.  You'll also learn how parents and students can get involved in the IC Mentoring Network from Gretchen VanValen M.M. '90, associate director for alumni relations and Carrie Brown, Executive Director of Alumni Relations.

Panel Moderator: John Bradac, Director of Career Services

Panelists include:
