"Many CMD skills—program planning, budgeting, crisis management, and
interview preparation—turn out to be invaluable in student affairs. Also, the
CMD focus on flexibility came into play as I have had to adjust to both a new corporate
climate, and to a regional culture that is completely different from the East Coast.
Lastly, Maslow is still the king; his concepts are the guiding light in our department
in terms of student development theory. The moral: as much as you may not believe them,
