Park Design House

For PDH Students

Once you have been assigned a project, it is your responsibility to set up a client meeting. The client is your main point of contact from this point.

Client Meeting

  • Create a schedule following the timeline on client form.
  • Discuss final outcomes.
  • Does the client have a vision for the finished piece?
  • Do they have examples of how they want it to look?
  • Do they want it to be fun? classic? academic?
  • Who is the primary audience?
  • If the headline is “Celebration of the Humanities” for example, do they want it to be more about the celebration or more about the humanities?
  • Fill out the client form with client.

Account Numbers

The account number for printing must be included on the client form; printing will be delayed until an account number is provided. The account number for design needs to be included in order for the student to get paid; Park will transfer funds from that account and cut a check to the student for design services

Payment Process

Park Design House staff receive compensation for each project ($75 for your first original design and $25 for each resize). Designers need to fill out student employment paperwork in the Financial Aid office and then meet with Melissa Gattine so she can officially add them to the Park Design House payment system.

Content

The client will provide approved copy. He/she is responsible for making sure there are no grammatical or factual errors. PDH student should still run spell-check as a courtesy and use common sense. Has the client included the date, time and location? Is you wanted to attend this event, do you have enough information to go?

The Park Design House logo must be used on all finished pieces, following the logo guidelines.

The Proofing Process

Establish with the client what will work best: PDF proofs via e-mail or in-person.

Be clear with the client in each proofing stage about when you need to hear back from them in order to stay on track. If the proofing process is going longer than anticipated, it is important to let the client know that the delivery date is in jeopardy. If needed, call Laurie Ward for help with speeding the client up on proofing or to establish a new delivery date.

Once the project has been approved (save final approval from client as a back-up), package disk according to specifications. Deliver a completed client form, with the disk, to Peter Kilcoyne. At the same time, e-mail the client form to Melissa Gattine and Laurie Ward. (You will not get paid if Melissa doesn't have the client form.)

Finished Project

Melissa will receive copies of the printed piece for your portfolio.
