|Account Executive, Turner Public Relations|
We handle publicity for fashion and lifestyle brands in Turner's Manhattan office (the Denver office handles travel/hospitality accounts and houses our social media division), some of our client roster includes K-Swiss, Obermeyer, Airwalk, Alpha Industries, Filson and more. Our ultimate goal is to place our client's products in media outlets - online, print and broadcast. We work with editors, bloggers and producers every day - there is always something going on! We also handle client events, whether it's a collection launch or a gifting suite at a music festival - we'll invite members of the press to attend, facilitate any interviews they may need on-site, and provide photos they may need for their pieces. We often travel to manage press at client events located outside of Manhattan. As a CMD Major, I was able to take PR-focused classes, which prepped me for the type of work I do today. However, I was also able to explore other areas of interest, particularly Integrated Marketing Communications, and I eventually took on an IMC minor. Learning about the PR and advertising side of communications gave me great insight, especially since many of my professors spent years working in these fields. I still keep in touch with them! I did tons of group projects too - which was invaluable experience, since I work as part of a team on all my accounts now.
