IC PRSSA's 'A Night to Network' Showcases Author and Alumna Meryl Cooper
Ithaca College’s Public Relations Student Society of America Chapter hosted its annual networking event, “A Night to Network,” at La Tourelle Resort & Spa in Ithaca on Nov. 12.
Guest speakers included Dario Bernardini, assistant professor in the Department of Strategic Communication, and Meryl Weinsaft Cooper, alumna from the class of 1992, public relations professional, and co-author of “Be Your Own Best Publicist.” Cooper is co-founder and principal of Allen/Cooper Enterprises, a public relations, marketing, events and exhibition company in New York City. She also held management positions at DeVries Public Relations and LaForce+Stevens on the agency side, as well as in-house public relations for Working Mother Media and the Screen Actors Guild.
IC PRSSA President Silvia Magana, who is an IMC major, ’13, said, “I am very proud of our PRSSA members who helped put together this successful event with a great turnout. I was grateful that our newest professor in Strategic Communication, Dario Bernardini, was able to speak and share his experiences in the industry. I also was delighted that Meryl Cooper took time out of her busy schedule to give helpful career advice and talk about her background representing leading hospitality and consumer brands.”
