Today's Peace Corps is more vital than ever, working in emerging and essential areas such as information technology and business development, and committing more than 1,000 new Volunteers as a part of the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief. The region's first "Green Collar Career Fair" will be held at Tompkins Cortland Community College in Dryden (at the Borg Warner Morse TEC Fieldhouse ) on Wednesday, November 5. The event is free-of-charge and open to the public from 12:30 to 4:00 pm.
There will be something for everyone: from an internship at Cornell in LEED-certified building design, to Ithaca Biodiesel’s “veggie car;” from compostable skateboards to solar-powered wine. Over 35 regional exhibitors will promote careers in various sectors of sustainability including energy efficiency, renewable energy, alternative transportation, green buildings and products, local farms and food, and organizations promoting the "4Rs: Reduce, Reuse, Resell or Recycle.”
