Why do you like being a PCA?
I like being a PCA because I am able to help people by doing what I really enjoy doing. It fun to see people come in and give them advice and then to see them comeback with a great resume or with a possible internship.
What is one service or resource of the Career Services office that you wish more people knew about?
I really think the Alumni Online Community is a great resource. This database allows students to look up alumni of Ithaca College by major, industry, location, etc. These connections are great chance to network to find a mentor, hear about great opportunities, or even get a job.

Career Services offers services like resume and cover letter critiquing, as well as mock interviews which I think are overlooked by the misconception that the office is there only to help people find a job.
Donette Ritchie
Major: Health Sciences (pre-med), Minor: Spanish
Why are you excited about being a PCA?
Being a PCA is an exciting experience because I am able to utilize my knowledge of professional development (and G.R.A.P.E.S) to facilitate conversations between students and recruiters through resumes, cover letters and other professional documents. By being in the office, I learn about a surfeit of resources that are minimally advertised.
What is one service or resource of the Career Services office that you wish more people knew about?
A service I wish more people knew about is the "Credential File." A recommendation file provides graduate schools and/or employers (upon the student's request) with already sealed student teacher evaluations, letters of recommendation, and/or any other materials that may support the student's candidacy. The office of Career Services confidentially maintains these files for a maximum of ten years. This service is especially useful for students who easily lose paper documents.
Melissa Rosenberg

Danielle West
Major: Communication Management and Design with a concentration in Instructional Technology & Art Education, Minor: Honors
Why do you like being a PCA?
I like being a part of Career Services because they are such an important office on campus, but more importantly I like being able to help other students to focus and realize their career goals. I think the student-to-student method is vital because we are all going through the same processes and are having to make the same decisions. Being able to relate to the students that come into the office is important. By having the peer program Career Services is able to reach a level that they could not with only the professional staff.
What is one service or resource of the Career Services office that you wish more people knew about?
The availability of doing mock interviews. I think this service is one that many students across all majors could benefit more from. Practicing interviews is important for success in obtaining a job.
