Why are you excited about being a PCA?
I am excited to be the liaison between Career Services and students – to use all the knowledge and skills I have been trained to share with other students and help them with professional development, career decisions, etc. It is definitely eye opening to be able to see things from both sides: because I am a student I absolutely understand how preparing for the future can be difficult and overwhelming for students. However, because I am also a PCA, I know how to utilize Career Services and all the resources available for students. I can’t wait to share all of that with students who need help, and to show them that Career Services is always there for students.
What is one service or resource of the Career Services office that you wish more people knew about?
Alumni Online Community – I definitely did not know about this resource before I became a PCA. Most of the time students (myself included) stress out about networking – how am I supposed to find all the connections that they always talk about? I think it is so wonderful and gratifying that Career Services provides students with the Ithaca College Alumni network, so that they can make the first step in searching for career opportunities.

Why are you excited about being a PCA?
I am excited to be a PCA because most people come to college a little confused and in search of finding that “thing” that they would like to do with their life. As a PCA I can be a part of helping my peers become less confused and point them in the right path to finding their “thing.” I love to see others find their way.

Why do you like being a PCA?
I like being a part of Career Services because they are such an important office on campus, but more importantly I like being able to help other students to focus and realize their career goals. I think the student-to-student method is vital because we are all going through the same processes and are having to make the same decisions. Being able to relate to the students that come into the office is important. By having the peer program Career Services is able to reach a level that they could not with only the professional staff.
What is one service or resource of the Career Services office that you wish more people knew about?
The availability of doing mock interviews. I think this service is one that many students across all majors could benefit more from. Practicing interviews is important for success in obtaining a job.
