Tassels

Tassels, as part of the Commencement regalia, are fastened to the middle point of the mortarboard and worn to the right side before degrees are conferred. Candidates are asked to shift them to the left at the moment when degrees are awarded to them. The tassel color is appropriate to the subject, with the exception of master?s degrees (black) and doctorate degrees (gold). The tassel colors and majors they represent are listed below.
