Suicide Awareness and Prevention Program
The Suicide Awareness and Prevention Program at CAPS offers educational presentations, screenings for mental illness, and opportunities for training and consultation to all members of the campus community.
Pathways is the primary outreach and training instrument for suicide prevention and for identifying and responding to students at risk at Ithaca College. All new resident assistants receive training in suicide awareness. Trainings for members of the campus community are offered through drop in sessions and through scheduled department sessions.
Online resources for suicide prevention include:
For Those Who Have Lost Someone to Suicide
Counseling Services at Ithaca College
American Association of Suicidology
American Foundation for Suicide Prevention
National Suicide Prevention Lifeline
The Trevor Project (24-hour suicide prevention helpline for LGBTQ youth)
