All groups are free and confidential.

Making Peace with Food

Facilitator: Alice Meilman, MSW (OPEN: Time will be decided based on students’ schedules)

Do you have difficulty knowing how to eat normally?  Do issues around food and eating create distress for you?  Do thoughts about your body take up too much of your time and energy? If concerns about weight or body image keep you from eating healthfully, then this group is for you.

REALationships Group

Facilitator: Paul Mikowski, Psy.D. (Tuesdays 4-5:15pm; closed 2/26)

Do you feel that your social relationships are not as satisfying as you want them to be? Are you concerned about your relationships with peers, friends, partners, and family? Do you want to understand your relationships at a deeper level? Join this weekly group for a new interpersonal experience in a safe atmosphere.

Mindfulness Meditation Group                                     

Facilitator: Paul Mikowski, Psy.D. (1st block: Wednesdays 4pm-5:30pm closed; 2nd block TBA, OPEN)

Do you want to relax more or discover “who am I?”  You can learn how to use mindfulness
meditation to reduce stress or to better understand yourself.  Join this 6-week group with a low-pressure and accepting environment where you can meditate more regularly or you can start to meditate and find other people who do as well.

Sexual Assault Survivor Support Group 

Facilitator: Suki Montgomery, Ph.D. (Wednesdays 9:15am-10:45am; closed 2/27)

Almost one quarter of college women have been sexually assaulted or raped…If you are one of these women, there is support. This group will help you to cope with anxiety and sadness, & will give you the chance to feel supported & offer help other women who also feel alone.

Healing from Loss

Facilitator: Pam Johnson, MSW. (Fridays 4-5pm; OPEN all semester)

This support group is for students who have experienced the death of a family member, partner, friend, or special person in their life.  The group will focus on ways to cope with the complex cycles of grieving and healing natural to such significant loss.

Surviving your Family

Facilitator: Pam Johnson, MSW.  (Wednesdays 3-4pm; open for several weeks as of 2/25)

This group is for students who have grown up in difficult family situations. If your experience of “home” includes hurtful, neglectful, or dysfunctional behaviors by those who are supposed to care for you, this is a chance to share feelings and learn coping skills in a safe space with others who have been there. 

Other groups will be created based on what you need or request.  Please feel free to let us know if you have ideas about groups we could offer!
