Summer Term Job Descriptions

ATHLETIC TRAINER

The Athletic Trainer is responsible for providing first aid and related treatment for minor sports injuries during the operation of the sports camps.  They will work with school-age children in an athletics setting under the guidance of various Camp Directors and the Assistant Director for Event Planning and Special Programs of Conference and Event Services.  Trainers will work with and provide referrals to the Health Director, the Health Center, and Public Safety.  Applicants must be at least of junior standing in an accredited athletic training program and must have served as a student trainer of an athletic team.  BLS/CPR and advanced first aid is required.  Athletic Trainers are paid $9.00 per hour for up to 40 hours per week.  On campus housing and meals are available.  The position start and end dates are to be determined.

CAMPUS CENTER MANAGER

You must have worked for the Campus Center Office for a MINIMUM of one semester to apply for this position.  Campus Center Managers serve as both Building and Services Office Managers during the summer.  Managers supervise and manage the operation of all service areas of the Campus Center.  Managers may also be asked to complete special projects and staff the Campus Center office desk as necessary.  Many shifts occur late at night, early in the morning and on weekends.  Managers are expected to work these shifts as needed. Peer leadership experience and experience in customer service are also required.  Managers will not be able attend summer classes or hold other jobs on or off campus.  Campus Center Managers will be paid $9.00 per hour for approximately 30 hours per week (hours worked per week will vary).  On campus housing and meals are available.  Positions start Monday, May 12, 2008 and ends Saturday, August 23, 2008.

 

OPERATIONS STAFF

The Operations staff is responsible for numerous functions within the Campus Center and the Office of Conference and Event Services.  Staff will be responsible for handling walk-in customers, check cashing, and telephone calls at the information desk, as well as being responsible for the furniture arrangements of rooms within the Campus Center for special events, conferences, and other activities.  Staff also assist in special projects as assigned.  Many shifts will occur late at night, early mornings and on weekends.  Staff is expected to work these shifts as needed.  Staff members must have a positive customer service attitude and possess a high level of commitment and flexibility.  Up to eight positions are available.  Applicants cannot not be enrolled in summer classes or hold other summer jobs on or off campus.  Other commitments will be evaluated before employment offer is extended.  Staff will be paid $8.25 per hour for approximately 30 hours per week (hours worked per week will vary).  On campus housing and meals are available.  Positions start Monday, May 12, 2008 and end Sunday, August 24, 2008.

PRODUCTION TECHNICIAN

The Production Technicians are responsible for ensuring that all audio-visual requirements for events have been met as requested.  Technicians set-up, operate, and strike a variety of professional level sound, lighting, and projection equipment.  Technicians are responsible for some equipment maintenance, keeping storage areas clean and organized and tracking inventory.  Many shifts occur late at night, early in the morning and on weekends.  Technicians are expected to work these shifts as needed.  Staff also assist in special projects as assigned.  Technicians must have prior audio-visual experience, as well as possess leadership and interpersonal skills, a positive customer service attitude and a high level of commitment and flexibility.  Four production assistant positions are available.  Staff members have limited opportunity to attend summer classes and hold other jobs on or off campus.  Other commitments will be evaluated before employment offer is extended.  Technicians will be paid $9.00 per hour for approximately 30 hours per week (hours worked per week will vary).  On campus housing and meals are available.  Positions start Monday, May 12, 2008 and end Sunday, August 24, 2008 (for one position, the end date may be as early as July 12, 2008 if necessary).

SUMMER EVENT MANAGER

You must have worked for the Conference & Event Services Office for a MINIMUM of one semester to apply for this position. The Summer Event Managers (SEM) are responsible for a variety of tasks that include the following: (1) Directing and working with the Operations staff to ensure that all furniture set-up requirements for events have been met as requested.  Managers are responsible for some equipment maintenance, keeping storage areas clean and organized and tracking inventory. (2) Providing support to the Office of Conference and Event Services in making arrangements for all of the services necessary for an event or conference (including catering, set-up, parking, shuttles, housing, etc.).  The SEM’s assist in the planning, coordination, preparation, and supervision of events.  Managers must possess leadership and interpersonal skills, a positive customer service attitude and a high level of commitment and flexibility.  SEM’s will work some regular hours as Office Assistants in the Conference and Event Services office and also assist in special projects as assigned.  Other work hours occur late at night, early in the morning and on weekends.  Summer Event Managers are expected to work these shifts as needed.  There is a very limited opportunity to attend summer classes and hold other jobs on or off campus.  Other commitments will be evaluated before employment offer is extended.  Seven positions are available. Summer Event Managers will be paid $9.00 per hour for approximately 30 hours per week (hours worked per week will vary).  On campus housing and meals are available.  Positions start Monday, May 12, 2008 and end Sunday, August 24, 2008 (for one position, the end date may be as early as August 18, 2008 if necessary).

SUMMER OPERATIONS MANAGER

You must have worked for the Conference & Event Services Office or the Campus Center Office for a MINIMUM of one semester to apply for this position. The Summer Operations Manager organizes the weekly event room set-up schedule for the Campus Center.  They facilitate the weekly scheduling meeting, monitor the hours worked by the Summer Operations staff and assign all the staff to their weekly shifts, provide guidance to both the Operations staff and Managers; work on set-up shifts when needed, and assist with special projects.  The Summer Operations Manager reports directly to the Assistant Director for Operations and assists them in other tasks as assigned.  Applicants must be I.C. students who are not enrolled in summer classes and do not hold other summer jobs on or off campus.  Other commitments will be evaluated before employment offer is extended.  On campus housing and meals are available.  The Summer Operations Manager will be paid $9.25 per hour for between 30-35 hours per week (hours worked per week will vary).  Position starts Monday, May 12, 2008 and ends Sunday, August 24, 2008.
