The first-year featured speaker is one of the highlights of the First-Year Experience. The speaker is specifically selected to inspire new students and our community and to address the first-year foundational theme -- this year, Intellect.
This year’s selected speaker is Charles Ogletree, Harvard Law School Jesse Climenko Professor of Law, and Founding and Executive Director of the Charles Hamilton Houston Institute for Race and Justice. He is a prominent legal theorist who has earned an international reputation by taking a hard look at complex issues of law and by working to secure the rights guaranteed by the Constitution for everyone equally under the law. He continues to serve as a mentor and adviser to President Barack Obama and will address this and other topics in his speech, Mentoring Barack Obama: From Law School to the White House.
Charles Ogletree will speak on November 12, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. in the Emerson Suites. Looking forward to seeing you there!
