The purpose of this letter is to share with you information concerning the ongoing planning by Academic Affairs regarding the H1N1 (swine) flu virus. The health and safety of both students and faculty is a top priority for us. Please take a few minutes to note the following recommendations and guidelines.

As expected, we are beginning to see students with flu-like symptoms. The CDC and State Health Department recommend against testing, but these cases almost certainly represent H1N1 or “swine” flu.

We want to update you on the H1N1 flu situation on campus, what you can do to avoid illness or prevent spread if you are ill, and what the College is doing to protect your health.
The main public health concern across the nation at this point is widespread absenteeism from school and work, not the seriousness of the illness....

To help battle the cold and flu season, the Office of Human Resources is again partnering with the Hammond Health Center to offer seasonal flu shots for all benefits-eligible employees at no cost.
