The Center for Health Promotion supports the efforts of individuals and student organizations who want to influence their peers toward healthier choices. Customized workshops and training opportunities are available for Resident Advisors, Orientation Leaders, and student organizations.
In addition, the following one-credit academic courses are provided by the Center for Health Promotion, in cooperation with the Sociology Department:
College Health Issues
This course provides students with an interactive class environment and a variety of presenters designed to help them learn about health issues that impact members of the college community – social and emotional health, alcohol & drug use, sexual health, stress, and nutrition.

Alcohol, Drugs and the College Student This course provides an opportunity for students to learn about alcohol and other drugs from a nonjudgmental, harm reduction approach. An emphasis is placed on the relationship of personal choices regarding alcohol and other drug use on student success. Specific class topics include managing blood alcohol concentration (BAC), the impact of alcohol use on sleep and athletic performance, the continuum of substance use patterns, and alcohol's role in sexual assault.
Student Organization:
R.E.A.C.H. (Responsibility, Education and Action for Campus Health) is a student organization which is advised by the Center for Health Promotion. REACH is committed to encouraging healthy behaviors among students particularly with regard to alcohol, other drugs, and sexuality. R.E.A.C.H. members meet weekly at 12:10 p.m. on Tuesdays in Friends 203. Please contact reach@ithaca.edu for more information.
