Terry Martinez
Director of Student Engagement and Multicultural Affairs

The Director of Student Engagement and Multicultural Affairs oversees the Center for Student Leadership & Involvement, the Office for New Student Programs and the Office of Multicultural Affairs. Among other things, Terry oversees all aspects of the Office of Multicultural Affairs as well as represents the department in budget matters and other college committees.

She holds a Master's degree in Applied Psychology from New York University and a Bachelor's degree in Social Work from the State University College at Buffalo. Terry plans on pursuing a doctorate degree from Syracuse University this coming year.

Malinda B. Smith
Assistant Director for the Office of Multicultural Affairs

Joining IC in August 2007, Malinda brings a great deal of experience, energy, and new ideas to the position. She has worked in the Office of Minority Educational Affairs at Cornell University for many years and has previously held the positions of Director of the Collegiate Science and Technology Program (CSTEP), Sr. Associate Director of Minority Affairs, Assistant Director of Minority Affairs, and Assistant Director of Financial Aid/Student Employment.

Malinda is an alumnus of Ithaca College with a degree in Health Administration. In her role as Assistant Director she coordinates the MLK Scholars program, cultural theme months, and student outreach.

John W. Rawlins, III
Assistant Director/IAP

John W. Rawlins, III has been with the OMA staff since August of 2006.  As Assistant Director, John's responsibilities include coordinating the Ithaca Achievement Program (IAP), a community of learners dedicated to academic achievement, personal success, leadership development, and community service.  John duties also include planning campus-wide events including cultural theme months, and doing student outreach.  He is the advisor to Brothers 4 Brothers and From Words to Action.  John is also the director of the Amani Gospel Singers.

John received his Bachelors of Science Degree in Human Development from the Cornell University College of Human Ecology.  His studies focused him on families, social policy, adolescence, and higher education.  Outside of IC, John spends most of his time pursuing his passion for music as a singer, songwriter, and producer.  He is originally from the Washington, DC area and is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.

Nansalmaa Brown
Administrative Assistant

Nansa Brown joined the OMA staff in August 2006. She is responsible for managing the OMA accounts and travel, maintaining the website and providing program and event support. 

She is originally from Mongolia. Nansa worked for the Peace Corps, as a cross cultural and Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) trainer and an enterpreter for 6 years in her country. She also taught English and Russian to college students and high school students. 

Nansa received a Masters in Education from the National University of Mongolia and Bachelors in Russian from the Foreign Language Institute, Mongolia.
