Orientation

Parents continue to play a role of the utmost importance in their college student's development and education. Parent & Family Orientation helps parents create realistic expectations and offers a great deal of information to assist both parents and students in making the transition to Ithaca College.  Specifically, our goals are as follows:

  • To help parents gain an understanding of the college mission and vision.
  • To help parents make a connection with faculty and staff within their child's academic school and campus-wide.
  • To help parents gain an understanding of their child's rights and responsibilities as an IC community member.
  • To receive exposure to some of the academic an social challenges their child may face.

Parents attend programs offered by their child's academic school, learn information about the resources and services on campus available to students, and more. In addition to social activities, an information fair is available with information about athletics, student employment, religious institutions on campus, and various other campus offices and organizations.
