Assumptions - presented by the Diversity Peer Educators
Thursday, January 27, 2012
7pm, Taughannock Falls

We all carry assumptions about the people around us. However, are the things we assume about these people always correct? Dr. King taught us that living in a diverse world requires people to explore and celebrate differences in people, and to suspend judgment without understanding the "content of their character." This session will explore how our assumptions about a person’s cultural identity very often differ from reality. Students will engage in an awareness activity and a discussion on cultural assumptions led by the Diversity Peer Educators. This workshop provides an excellent opportunity to engage with other individuals to learn more about your peers and yourself. This session will count as an SLI credit in the "Leading in a Diverse World" track, and refreshments will be served!
