Why did you choose your major?
I came into college knowing I wanted to work in the world of marketing and advertising. I shadowed positions in the field prior to coming to IC. I chose Integrated Marketing Communications at IC as a lot of other colleges do not offer programs that combine classes in both communication and business. Taking classes in both schools at IC exposes me to more, making me more marketable.
What motivated you to apply to become a Student Leadership Consultant (SLC)? A lot of the programming OSEMA offers is important to me. For instance, I was involved in community service prior to coming to IC and was able reconnect through OSEMA’s Service Saturday program. As an SLC, I knew I would have the opportunity to work on and market these OSEMA programs and events.
What is one way that you made connections with other students during your first year? I lived in the First-Year Residential Experience in the East Tower. I joined student organizations I was interested in to meet people with similar interests. I’ve been a member of IC After Dark since my first semester and continue my involvement today. I also conversed with upperclassmen that have become mentors to me during my time at IC through experiences like student organizations.
