Alternative Breaks at IC

Alternative Breaks Program is sponsored by the Office of Student Engagement and Multicultural Affairs that provides service opportunities for students who successfully apply for participation at a variety of sites across the eastern United States.

Our AB Mission:

Alternative Breaks (ASB) are held during the fall, spring, and summer breaks in order to give students the chance to gain personal and professional growth through direct volunteer experience, place-based learning, and teamwork. 

By participating in an AB trip students will:

  •  possess a stronger sense of personal civic identity upon completion of ASB
  •  identify ways to continue their involvement after ASB
  • develop an understanding of the communities and cultures where their service takes place
