Service Saturdays

Explore Your Passion.

Share Your Energy.

Be the Change.

For the past four years, the Service Saturdays Program has offered Ithaca College students a unique opportunity to serve Ithaca and Tompkins County with passion and energy.  Through partnerships with more than twenty different service-based organizations, IC students consistently offer more than 1,700 total hours of service on a variety of projects, from working in organic gardens to assisting with prisoner education programs. By gaining new, "place-based" knowledge through the service experience, Ithaca College students become engaged learners, more thoroughly scrutinize their academic foundation, and grow immensely as community-minded scholars. Whether it be a long-time volunteer, or someone who is exploring new ways to get involved - this is among the best opportunities to serve the community while attending Ithaca College. At the end of each academic year, a Service Saturdays volunteer(s) is honored as the Service Saturday Volunteer of the Year. The awardee must participate in at least 50% of Service Saturday events, and should display team-based leadership skills and strong enthusiasm for community service.

For each service date, we:

1. Coordinate all of the logistics for the event

2. Provide all necessary transportation

3. Provide on-site supervision

4. Do giveaways and raffles

5. Do volunteer placement

*If you are from an organization in Tompkins County, and would like to request volunteer assistance, please contact austin@ithaca.edu at your earliest convenience. We will do our best to serve your needs!*
