About Ballroom Dance

Already popular as an Olympic sport, Ballroom Dance has quickly become one of the fastest growing clubs on the Ithaca College campus after only several months. Formed in December 2005 by senior Joseph Anderson, the Ithaca College Ballroom Dance Club has firmly established itself following its first public appearance on February 4, 2006. Several weeks after that initial swing dance lesson in the Fitness Center Aerobics Room, the club’s membership grew to 20 individuals, and by the end of the spring semester to 33.

While the club is open to all members of the Ithaca College community and does offer lessons, fees are associated with these lessons to help finance the club. Memberships are available for $20 per semester and provide free entry to all club lessons as well as a discount on guest instructors and apparel. With a membership card, fees for guest instructors are $3 per hour or $5 for two hours, and $5 and $8, respectively, per hour without a card. It is necessary to have your card for every session in order to receive the discount and to e-mail the club if you plan to attend a lesson by a guest instructor. The Ithaca College Ballroom Dance Club schedule begins each year with the start of the fall semester and runs through the conclusion of the spring semester.
