Burglaries in Circle Apartments

The Ithaca College Office of Public Safety and Emergency Management is investigating the report of a burglary that occurred between midnight and 2:00 AM on June 13, 2013, at Circle Apartment 150.  The preliminary investigation reveals that miscellaneous items were taken from the occupied apartment, including electronic gaming devices and a laptop computer. Entry may have been gained through the back sliding glass door, which residents report was closed but unlocked. Residents reported observing two or three subjects fleeing from the immediate area, carrying items, some of which were later recovered by Public Safety. One resident was able to provide a physical description of one subject as tall and thin, with no further details.  Subjects were last seen crossing Danby Road, heading west.  A third party in a nearby off campus location reported observing a white male between 17 – 20 years of age running toward Stone Quarry Road.

A second burglary is currently under investigation that occurred between 1:00 AM and 8:00 AM on June 13, 2013, at Circle Apartment 180.  Residents reported miscellaneous items, including electronic gaming devices and lacrosse sticks, were taken from the occupied apartment.  Entry may have been gained through the front door, which residents report was closed but not locked.  There is no suspect information related to this incident and it is unknown at this time if the two burglaries are connected.  Anyone having information regarding either incident is urged to contact Public Safety.

Members of the campus community are reminded to always lock their room or apartment doors and windows.  Immediately report suspicious or unusual activity to the Office of Public Safety and Emergency Management at 607-274-3333 or report anonymously at 607-274-1060.
