Circle Apartment Burglary

The Office of Public Safety is investigating a reported burglary that occurred in the Circle Apartments, Building 11. According to the victim, unknown person(s) entered the apartment over the break period (11/19-11/29/10) and removed computer and electronic items. The victim is not certain whether apartment windows were locked and the investigation reveals no sign of forced entry. Anyone having information pertaining to this incident is urged to contact the Office of Public Safety at 607-274-3333, or leave an anonymous voice mail message at 607-274-1060.

Members of the campus community are reminded to keep windows and doors secure even during short periods of time when rooms/apartments are left unoccupied, and we encourage all community members to immediately report unusual or suspicious activity to the Office of Public Safety.

In accordance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act [20 USC 1092 (f)],  otherwise known as the “Clery Act,” the College is required to provide the campus community timely warning of certain crimes and other conditions that pose a serious or ongoing threat to life and safety. The College meets this notification requirement through the issuance of a “Public Safety Alert” intended to aid in the prevention of similar crimes and provide cautionary measures for the campus community. Clery crimes are as follows: aggravated assault, arson, burglary, murder and non-negligent homicide, robbery, sexual offenses (forcible and non-forcible), motor vehicle theft, and hate crimes (in accordance with Clery reporting categories for prejudice).
