Violin Preludio Program
The Preludio Program is designed for very advanced students who are motivated to work in a demanding musical environment. The program attracts serious students who have studied major violin concertos and offers an exciting college campus study atmosphere. There is a limit of 12 students and the age limit for this program is 13 to 17 years of age. Students are housed in a teen residence hall.
Violin Preludio Program meets for three weeks, June 28 - July 17, 2015. Activities of the program include the following:
- two or three one-hour lessons per week
- performance class
- violin ensemble
- technique class
- coaching with a faculty piano accompanist
- public recital performances
The minimum requirement for admission is any major concerto such as one by Bruch, Mendelssohn, Lalo, or Mozart. The faculty for the Violin Preludio Program includes Tom Wermuth (violin), Allegra Wermuth (violin), and Melissa Zindel (piano).
Audition Submission Requirements
Review of audition DVDs will begin on March 10, 2015, and will continue until all openings are filled.The audition requirement for the Violin Preludio Program is one movement of a major concerto with piano accompaniment. Clearly mark the recording (DVD preferred) with your name, piece being performed, and program to which you are applying.
