Information for Faculty Regarding Final Exams for Students with Disabilities
The large number of students using test accommodations through Student Accessibility Services during finals week necessitates careful planning for adequate test space, proctors, readers, scribes, and to ensure test security.
Faculty can assist SAS staff by observing the following procedures:
1. You will receive an email request for each exam scheduled by a student.
2. Please deliver exams to 110 Towers Concourse or send via email (email@example.com) a minimum of 24 hours before the test is to be administered. If this is not possible, please call the office (274-1257) and indicate when the exam will be delivered. Due to the number of tests taking place during finals week, most exams are administered in locations outside our office, and we need to have them delivered to the test site well before the exam seating. In the event that you need to deliver the test close to the time of the exam seating, you may be asked to deliver it directly to the exam site.
3. Do not send tests via campus mail as the exam may not arrive in time; also, this is not a secure method of delivery.
4. When e-mailing an exam, please send the exam as an attachment to preserve proper formatting.
5. Please remember to include special instructions (e.g. open book/open notes), blue books, and Scantron sheets with the exams.
6. Whenever possible, please put images, pictures, etc. on a CD or flash drive, ensuring both test security by avoiding use of the internet and an accurate visual image (e.g. color images for art history exams).
7. Completed exams will be delivered to the Dean's Office or, upon your request, will be held in 110 Towers Concourse for you to pick up.

Student Accessibility Services
It is important to note that there has been a change in procedures for final exams. Faculty members will no longer receive an envelope from the office with the final exam request. You will be notified by e-mail in the same way you are notified regarding test requests throughout the year.
The large number of students using testing accommodations necessitates careful planning to ensure adequate space, proctors, readers, scribes, etc.
Alternate Time Requests:
You will receive an e-mail and/or phone call concerning each alternate time request. If you approve an alternate time, please make note of it and have the test delivered to the office in a timely fashion. Faculty are under no obligation to approve these requests unless they are approved accommodations (i.e., flying home early is not an accommodation). If the alternate time is an accommodation, you will be notified via e-mail.
Students are responsible for scheduling their own exams. Please do not schedule exams for students.
If you have not received an accommodation plan from the office, the student should not be allowed to schedule exams through Student Accessibility Services. Please tell the student to contact our office to make an appointment to discuss accommodations.
Student Accessibility Services can guarantee the security of your exam. However, we cannot guarantee that students will not find a way to cheat. Students are proctored and are only allowed to take a pen or pencil into the exam room unless otherwise specified by the instructor. Please indicate on the exam if you are allowing students to use their own calculator, notes, or book. If you suspect a student of cheating, it would be best if you provide the accommodation yourself.
The staff at Student Accessibility Services is committed to ensuring the safety of your exam and to protecting the integrity of the process. Because students will be located in 7-8 different buildings, and because multiple readers, proctors, scribes, etc. will be involved in this effort, careful adherence to the procedures is essential.
Timely delivery of exams, and on-going communication with the office,will guarantee a smooth exam administration.
During finals week our office will be open from 7:00 AM until all final exams (including 7:30 PM exams) are completed for the day.
